Googled by God

Standard

I don’t get to fly as often as I like, but one of the things I love is when you come to land and you get close enough to see little cars and trucks driving around. Even from not too great a height it is easy to see how in the great scheme of things we are very small. While someday we are guilt of thinking the world revolves around us and should dance to our whims, other days we feel like a speck of dust.

Yesterday I go a surprise – I met someone who told me to look at Google Maps Street View of our Church. When I zoomed in thou and behold there I am walking back to the church, probably from lunch break! How funny to see yourself caught on camera as part of a landmark! I hope people don’t get lost coming to the church if I’m not standing outside as a marker!

The Psalmist was in awe of God that he could even be bothered about man because he was so insignificant.

Psalms 8:3-9  When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,  4  what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  5  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.  6  You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:  7  all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,  8  the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.  9  O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Yes, it is a wonder that God loves us and is concerned with us but my Google surprise reminded me that the God who created the universe has His eye on me, that nothing in my life goes unnoticed or un-thought about by God.

Psalms 139:13-17  For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  15  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,  16  your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  17  How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!

How amazing you are, Lord, that you see me and know me. Now I just looking for a reverse Google Street Map so that I can zoom in on God!

  1. Never thought of Google Maps like that. That’s true, though. God can zoom like ‘google earth’ and find a single person in this vast sea of people. That’s amazing. thanks for this 🙂

  2. Hi Tracey – as I live in Cape Town too, I’m trying to identify the church. I am stumped though – is it Noordhoek?
    Have an awesome weekend
    God bless
    Tracy
